Hi Folks

I installed FS yesterday using the Windows installer, in a Windows XP VM (32 bit) running on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop - everything worked great and I was able to load the IDE and start experimenting.

This morning I restarted the laptop and the XP VM, started the Tomcat server running (OracleXE started automatically) and started the FS IDE, but I am getting "The conneciton has timed out" and the IDE will not load. The URL it is trying to access is: http://192.168.120.187:8070/formspider/main.html?name=FormspiderIDE

Is there something else I am missing in terms of starting the IDE?

Note that I am a freelance Forms developer currently working a contract with a large corporation in Ireland. They have been using Forms since 1999, and are starting to look at alternatives. I would like to recommend FS to them if I can get some demos up and running fairly quickly.

If you need any more details, let me know.

Best regards

Billy

Hi Billy,

To grant ACL right to FORMSPIDER schema you have to run the following script with SYS user.

begin
  begin
    dbms_network_acl_admin.drop_acl('formspider.xml');
    commit;
  exception
  when others then
    rollback;
  end;

  dbms_network_acl_admin.create_acl (
    acl         => 'formspider.xml',
    description => 'HTTP Access',
    principal   => 'FORMSPIDER',
    is_grant    => TRUE,
    privilege   => 'connect',
    start_date  => null,
    end_date    => null
  );

  dbms_network_acl_admin.add_privilege (
    acl        => 'formspider.xml',
    principal  => 'FORMSPIDER',
    is_grant   => TRUE,
    privilege  => 'resolve',
    start_date => null,
    end_date   => null
  );

  dbms_network_acl_admin.assign_acl (
    acl        => 'formspider.xml',
    host => 'localhost', -- such as 192.168.1.10 or hostname like localhost
    lower_port => 8070,
    upper_port => 8070
  );

  commit;
end;

Hi Sergar

Thanks very much for your quick response. That seems to have solved the problem. I'm just curious why this script was not included as part of the installation suite?

Best regards

Hi Folks

Looks like I solved my own problem. When I replaced the IP address in the URL with "localhost", it worked, although when I entered the admin credentials it did say that I was already logged in and that it would terminate that other connection if I continued (which I did).

Thus I changed the URL from: http://192.168.120.187:8070/formspider/main.html?name=FormspiderIDE to: http://localhost:8070/formspider/main.html?name=FormspiderIDE

and it solved the connection time out problem.

May help some others.

Best regards

Billy

Hi,

Probably your IP address changes every time you restart your PC. Using localhost helps you to open Formspider IDE. However, if database is in another machine version control will not work properly due to the fact that database can't access to your PC by using localhost as address.

To make version control work again:

  1. Your your db is local, run the following script in your Formspider schema.

    update T_BDF_SC_SETUP set value_tx = 'http://localhost:8070/formspider/' where param_cd = 'baseURL'; / commit;

  2. If your db is on another machine, make sure your laptop have a static IP and run the following script in your Formspider schema.

    update T_BDF_SC_SETUP set value_tx = 'http://[STATIC_IP_ADDRESS_OF_LAPTOP]:8070/formspider/' where param_cd = 'baseURL'; / commit;

Kind Regards

Hi Serdar

Thanks very much for your reply. I did as you suggested (i.e. update T_BDF_SC_SETUP set value_tx = 'http://localhost:8070/formspider/' where param_cd = 'baseURL'; / commit; in my local db) and opened the IDE using localhost. I then tried to create a new application, filled in the 2 fields (name and Datasource Schema) and then clicked OK - an error button appeared next to the name, and when I click on it I see:

ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-24247: network access denied by access control list (ACL)

I have set up OracleXE locally and that's where all the FS objects have been created.

Have you any idea what I need to do now?

Best regards

Billy
