I am using FormSpider 1.8.1 (Build 41) I have a desktop where I installed FS (Tomcat) locally. I also have Oracle client installed on my local machine (and tnsnames.ora file, that has the DB connection details, and DB is on a remote machine).

I have GIT installed on my machine (however I have deleted that) today, as I understood GIT comes along with 1.8 (so, I assumed all the required pieces are already there in the DB and locally on FS.

When I try to create a new application and checked the box "Enable Version Control", it gives below messaage.

ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

If I click once again the same create button, it says application already exists. So, it actually created the application, but not able to enable the version control.

When opened the application, I observed it did not create the basic mainframe and panel. I tried to delete the application below message appears.

When I try to remove the application "HTTP access to the Version Control Server failed, the Version Control repository cannot be deleted."

When I try to create a new object in the application, it gives this following message. "HTTP access to the Version Control Server failed, your changes cannot be saved to the Version Control Repository."

So, it looks like I have install and configure GIT, but I do not know how. If I have to install the entire FS, I can export my current application and I can reinstall. Any help on this is great.

Hi Viswa,

Sorry to hear version control didn't work after the installation. It was supposed to. The wizard installs Git and gives the appropriate grants to the Formspider schema. It is not a straightforward configuration and there are a few things outside of our control that might prevent the version control to work after the installation.

What is the version of your database? If it is 11g, could you please run the query below in the SYS schema and send us the result: SELECT host, lower_port, upper_port, acl FROM dba_network_acls

Could you also please send us the contents of the T_BDF_SC_LOG and T_BDF_SC_SETUP tables. Former stores some tracing information about the communication between the database and Git server and the latter stores the configuration parameter values of your set up.

In order for version control to work, Formspider must be able to connect to the application server running the Formspier Middle Tier from the Oracle Database the Formspider schema is installed. In your case, it seems like there are problems in establishing this connection.

Kind Regards,
Yalim

Yalim is correct -

"In order for version control to work, Formspider must be able to connect to the application server running the Formspier Middle Tier from the Oracle Database the Formspider schema is installed."

In other words - "The Database should be able to reach the Formspider application server (port 8080) to post certain information."

Resolved.

Follow up question - is it possible to move an existing application (partially built application) to Version control? Or do I have to start over? I am not able to do it. I tried export and import into a new application and from there also, I was not able to put the app into version control.
