Hi Pramod,

Unfortunately, we canceled the development of the automatic conversion utility. The web page on our site referring to the automatic conversion tool will be removed shortly.

We did quite a lot of work and market research on this topic. Ultimately, we could not justify the significant investment we needed to make to create the tool.

We also realized that we could add so many cool new features to Formspider in the amount of time we would spend writing the converter. At the end of the day, we decided to improve the product.

Formspider is still the best framework to move your Forms applications. It uses the same programming language and much more importantly Formspider has a very similar development experience. If you know Forms, being a very good Formspider developer does not take long at all.

Because of these reasons, converting a Form to a Formspider application is much much faster than converting it to any other web technology. Most of the algorithm can be reused. There is very little refactoring going on because Formspider applications run using the same principle Forms does i.e. The user interacts with the application, a trigger fires and a PL/SQL block executes that calls API's (Forms built-ins) to manipulate the UI.

Then do we have features in Formspider to default certain fields based on Primary value, For Example : Derived values based on application configuration. Reason we are planning to build some applications based on minimal data entry and keep Human errors to minimal.

I am not sure what you meant by application configuration but derived values are easily done in Formspider. You can set any field to any value programatically. If you can provide a use case, we can build a sample app for you.

Use Case:

Purchase Order Creation Process - After Selecting Vendor following needs to be defaulted for PO Processing 1. Payment Terms 2. Freight Terms 3. FOB 4. Notes to Supplier (Default) 5. Pre-Approved Quote Number for Pricing

Let me know if you need more information.

OK. Got it. This is quite easy with Formspider. Very much like you'd do it in Forms. We'll prepare a sample and show it to you.
