A datasource has to be based on a table in order to make inserts, updates and deletes. That table may have foreign keys to tables with more information, for example someone's first name and last name.

How can I show these "lookup data"?

Offcourse I have read the tutorial about comboboxes, but there are lookup tables with thousands of records.

Hi Jan-Willem,

In the application we are building we always use views with instead-of triggers for the screen datasources. Among one of the advantages of working like this is that you decide in the database viewhow to query the lookup data for your screen. Then if you have a large lookup table usage in your screen, just use an LOV, for smaller lookup tables you can use a simple combobox.

Good luck, Michiel A.
