I read in your blog entry about Formspider Mobile Beta 2 that it supports the access to the camera and to photos. Furthermore, I had a look into the tutorial for uploading images in FS Mobile apps. In this tutorial you talk a lot about uploading images. At the end you mention that it is also possible to take a new photo. Is this really already possible in Formspider Mobile? So is it possible to access the camera of the smartphone out of an FS Mobile app?

Another question which came to my mind in this context is if it is possible to integrate other apps like for example a barcode scanner in a FS Mobile app. A possible scenario would be to use the camera and the scanner together in this app to scan barcode.

Hi Lisa,

Yes, access to camera and photos is already possible in Formspider Mobile Beta 2. You need to run the app in the FS Mobile Previewer to access the camera. Here is the tutorial:http://theformspider.com/learningcenter/tutorial-55-uploading-images-in-fs-mobile-apps/

This version of FS Mobile cannot read a barcode. But technically, it is possible to include barcode scanning libraries to an FS Mobile app and achieve what you want. (At the moment, you would need access to the source code to achieve this.)

Kind Regards

thank you for your response.

I had a look at the tutorial. Unfortunately, I don't have access to an iPhone right now and therefore cannot have a look in the FS Mobile Previewer (By the way: I still have problems running apps in browser on Android and iOS as I mentioned in the question "Blank site when running Formspider Mobile application").

But what I still don't really understand is how the camera of the device is accessed in the app. For me it doesn't really become clear in the tutorial. I built the tutorial and executed the app in the browser at the computer as I cannot test it on a smartphone right now. When I click the image box a dialog for uploading an image from my harddrive opens. Does this look different in the FS Mobile Previewer? In the tutorial in the picture at the top there you can choose between "Take photo" and "Choose existing". Does this dialog opens when you click on an image box in the Previewer app? Or where is this dialog "Take photo" and "Choose existing" implemented? I assume that "Take photo" would then be the access to the camera of the device.

Kind Regards, Lisa

Hi Lisa,

"Does this look different in the FS Mobile Previewer?" Yes, it does. :-). You will see the "Take Photo and" "Choose Existing" options in the FS Mobile Previewer. You don't have to implement anything. It just works that way.

Regarding your issue running your app in the browser...That's an interesting one because we could run it and see the screen you designed. We'll have to take a closer look at that issue. I saw that you sent your exact iOS version. So I think that will help.

Kind Regards, Yalim

I forgot to mention that I tried to run the app also at an Android Smartphone in the Chrome Browser. There I also get a blank page.

Android and Chrome version? We tried it on a Nexus 4 with Chrome and it worked.

I also tried it on a Nexus 4 with Android 4.4.2 and Chrome app-version 31.0.1650.59

We tried it on Chrome 32.0.1700.99. Same Android version. Try to update your Chrome and let's see what happens.

I updated Chrome to 32.0.1700.99 and still the same problem. The browser starts loading, finishes and display a white page

I have a iPhone right now and tried to open the app in the FS Mobile Previewer. All I get there is the message "Please wait while Formspider is loading you application." This message remains there the whole time. I also tried to press reload, but the same mesage appears.
