Hello! When I try to recreate the steps in Tutorial 2 on my local installation of Formspider, I fail to create a simple Datasource Definition... I receive several ORA-06512 (which I know are fairly ambiguous on their own). Here is what I get:

ORA-06512: at "FORMSPIDER.BDF_DATASOURCEDEFATRIB_API", line 13

ORA-06512: at "FORMSPIDER.BDF_DATASOURCEDEF_TYPEAPI", line 369

ORA-06512: at "FORMSPIDER.BDF_IDE_DATASOURCEDEFCOMMIT_II", line 68

ORA-06512: at "FORMSPIDER.API_APPLICATION", line 43

ORA-06512: at "FORMSPIDER.BDF_IDE_INTERFACE_PKG", line 1468

My schema.table_name.column_name is EHBHR.EM_EMPLOYEE.EM_FIRST_NAME.

By the way, when I run using the online IDE and step through this tutorial, it works.

Any thoughts?

Thom

Hi Thom,
Cause of the fault is that timestamp data type is not supported yet. If it is essential for you, we can add timestamp data type in the next release. Your feed back is very important for us.

For now, is it possible for you to change timestamp columns to date. Or you can create wrapper views using date or varchar2 data types instead of timestamps.

Hi Thom,

Could you please send us the DDL of the EHBHR.EM_EMPLOYEE table and tell us the version of your Oracle Database please?

create public synonym em_employee for ehbhr.em_employee;

create public synonym employee for ehbhr.em_employee;

Could it be a privilege issue with FORMSPIDER using EHBHR's objects?

Thanks,

Thom

Wow, sorry that the board squeezes the DDL together like that. If you want me to upload it differently, let me know.

Thanks,

Ugur,

I can live without the timestamp for now but I can see the need for it later on in other apps/sections. I am going to test it with date datatypes in the next few minutes to make sure we have it figured out.

Thanks!

That worked! Thanks guys! By the way, is there any other documentation you can share about design, standards and strategies for FS development? I'd like to build a prototype application for my company to get them to agree to go forward with the tool. I'd like to be able to build a login page, basic form-detail pages and transaction record-keeping.

Thanks,

Thom

Thom,

We have a demo application that addresses the issues you mentioned. We can send it to you if you provide an email address. Alternatively, if you have a Formspider Online account, we can upload the application to your account. Do you have one? If so, what is the user name?

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have during development. We are here to help.

Regards.

I do have an online IDE account, my username is twilson@ehbmail.com.

I'm currently trying to do something simple like pass a username/pwd and retrieve a user type or pass/fail back to a text box to see that it is working. I'm using an XY Layout.

Thanks!

Hi Thom,

We deployed a sample application to your Formspider Online account. If you login to your account and open the list of applications in the IDE you will see an application called CRM Demo. We also deployed the source code of this application to your Formspider Online Database schema. The connection information for this schema can be found in the Formspider Online IDE menu, under Tools->User Settings.

You can use your favorite PL/SQL editor to connect to the database schema we provided. We think this sample application has answers for many questions you asked. Please analyze this applicaiton, and feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Regards.

Thanks Yalim!

I've looked through the demo and it is very helpful. The one area that I am missing is the database code... I see that I can connect via the formspider tns entry but I do not have access to a sql client on my externally facing PC (email, etc.). Our Oracle installation is currently sequestered internally without outside access. It may be better to receive the demo via email as offered previously. If that is still an option, let me know. Also, instructions on local installation would be helpful. I'd like to not pollute my current HR prototype with mixing demo and real code.

Thanks again, you guys are super helpful!
